On the Bench: Coming Soon to Our Shop!

Get a sneak peek at instruments currently in production and not yet sold. Sometimes our sales outpace our build speed, so this page offers an exclusive look at what's on its way. You might even be able to customize hardware, neck, fretboard, and finish before it's listed in the main shop. These will be treated as regular orders, not custom builds. If you don't find what you're looking for elsewhere, you might find it here!

Lapaxe™ Guitars: Play more guitar, play better guitar!

We are completing some new series of Pale Moon Telecasters, All will have Pale moon necks as well and will have Black Jet (Palu) Makassar fretboards.
Some bodies are cut for Double Mini Humbuckers, some are cut for Vintage Tele pick-up at the Neck and Hot-rails at the bridge. 

In the middle of the pictures at the table are Free-Birds Customs with Mimba Tops ! They came out very pretty.
Mimba is a wood from the Mahogany family, these figured pieces only seldom occur and only come from the trunk of the tree. We do have a nice stock for another 6 instruments after these 2. These will be loaded with double Hot-Rail Humbuckers in Ivory color, the pick up rings are counter sunk into the body and be in Pale Moon ebony for a nice contrast. Both will have a solid maple neck and Fretboard.
I expect these 2 new series of custom Free-Birds to be uploaded into the shop by the first week of February.

Furthermore are a new series of Semi Acoustic RS models as demand for these are quite high especially from Japan. The one with the custom Makassar top has already been reserved. 

A few Triple Humbucker Madness Freebirds are in the works and a couple of standard Tele's.

The new Lapaxe™ Junior Series, we are selling good. Not always in stock but we can produce these fast

More good news is as soon as the raining season is over we are starting to build our own factory building about an hour away from Bandung, it's in the area also nice and high up the mountains where we buy most our Mahogany, our main wood, we are right in the plantations. Only the heavy machinery will move there and the spraying facility as it's getting too small here, for final set-up checks and sending will still remain in the existing workshop.

Update-10-09-25
The first Lapaxe™ Tele Pale Moon Custom from the Celebes series has come out, a series of 12 pieces are being build in solid Tele bodies and Free-bird bodies. Most come with Rosewood or Paile moon necks, choices of 3 different Ebonies are available for the fretboards. You can choose your own Block and pick-up configuration. Lead times are 6 to 8 weeks ex works.

Some great new wood came in all 3 book matched blocks, The left block Amboyna we will use for a full size solid body Bullet style guitar as its too pretty to cut up for small bodies the 2 on the right we will use for tops these are both Mimba Wood family of the Mahogany tree, excellent sound properties so likely we will use it for custom Semi Acoustic series !

The Lapaxe™ Semi Acoustic RS model, We delivered the first 2 instruments with great comments and video clips from Rick Smith are on the product page as well as our YouTube channel and SM forums. This new model will be added to the standard line, currently we are building the first 2 customs with Makassar book matched top.

These are the first 2 custom's on the bench !
Makassar book matched tops Mahogany body Rosewood neck be fitted with Makassar or Black Jet (Palu Sulawesi) Ebony Black or Brass Hardware. Both are not reserved yet and will make their way to the onlineshopbyt the beginning of September.

After 8 months of Natural drying in our barn shed, the Amboyna block for bodies and tops are finally dry. Now it's time to select which we use for what !

The new Lapaxe™ Semi Acoustic RS series are coming by nicely !
Tomorrow add the wood filler then little sanding, a very light colour stain in Honey Gold
and then 10 coats of clear gloss NC and this one be ready for assembly !
