The Challenge Every traveling musician faces the same dilemma: their favorite guitar is too precious—and too large—to risk in a cramped overhead bin. For one specific player, the "dream" was to have a travel-sized companion that looked, felt, and responded exactly like his beloved Ibanez AE-500NT.
The Collaboration Enter the Lapaxe "Little Sister" Program. Unlike mass-produced travel gear, this wasn't about a "one-size-fits-all" solution. It began in the digital world, with our team developing custom 3D drawings in direct coordination with the client. We mapped out his favorite aesthetics and matched them to our proven hardware and scale lengths—providing the blueprints free of charge to ensure the vision was perfect before the first cut was made.
The Craftsmanship Over the course of 10 weeks in our Indonesian workshop, the digital design became a physical reality. We selected a Solid Mahogany body for depth, a Sitka Spruce top for that classic acoustic punch, and a Rosewood fingerboard with elegant MOP inlays. To ensure the sound was identical to his stage rig, the client even supplied his own Fishman Rare Earth Mic Blend pickup, which we seamlessly integrated into the build.
The Result The first "Little Sister" was delivered as a perfect mini-tribute to its Ibanez predecessor. The client is "over the moon"—he now has a professional-grade, custom-built travel guitar that matches his favorite "Axe" in both soul and style, all at a price comparable to our regular shop models.
